 Bass
Steven Liu (Bass) has received his B.M. in Music Performance and is currently pursuing a M.F.A. at the University of California, Irvine where he had the opportunity to study both Classical and Jazz bass with various Bassists including: David Young, Doug Basye, and Darek Oleszkiewicz. As a bassist, Mr. Liu has been fortunate enough to be exposed to many different kinds of playing environments and genres of music. As an orchestral musician, he has performed with various college and community orchestras, such as Azusa Pacific, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, La Primavera, Novo Philharmonic, Santa Ana Symphony, UC Irvine, South Orange County Chamber Orchestra, Vanguard University, and Debut Symphony. Steven Liu also performs with various Jazz combos that perform with live dance troupes. Furthermore, Mr. Liu has performed with pit orchestras for numerous operas and musicals such as Carmen, Cossi Fan Tutti, La Triviata, Victor/Victoria, Suessical, and Into The Woods to name a few. As an educator, Mr. Liu has taught students throughout Orange County, and has served as a bass and chamber coach for various high schools. Steven Liu has also had the opportunity to participate in various chamber and orchestral music festivals like Idywyll, Golden Gate Bass Festival, and Ameropa (a Czech music festival) where he has been able to perform, study, and receive coachings from well known bassists such as: Jiri Valenta, Trevor Ware, Luther Hughes, Charlie DeRamus, Francis Singer, David Black, and Francios Rabbath.
