Clarinet

Glen Kamida has been teaching music in public schools and teaching private clarinet lessons for 20 years. For the past 12 years, he has taught both Middle and Elementary Schools for the Torrance Unified School District. A five time PTA Honorary Service Award recipient, Glen has gone beyond the “call of duty” by organizing fund raising concerts, having his Elementary Schools participate in the Torrance Armed Forces Parade, and most recently starting a String Program in the North Torrance area. The result of his latest effort has produced over 100 Elementary string students, and a 35 piece orchestra at Casimir Middle School, where all of the students volunteer their time.

Mr. Kamida’s other music activities include being a member of the Torrance Arts Council, and serving as a Board of Director for both Wildwood Institute of Music and Arts and the Saturday Conservatory of Music at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena. For the past 17 summers, Glen has been a clarinet coach at the Intermediate and Senior sessions at Wildwood, as well as contributing as a soloist, recitalist and conductor. With the Saturday Conservatory, he has served as clarinet teacher, chamber ensemble and orchestra director. In 2004, Mr. Kamida was invited to be the guest conductor of the San Bernardino County Middle School Honor Orchestra.

Along with teaching at Opus Music of South Bay, Glen has been a clarinet instructor at Huntington Beach Edison High School and at the South Bay Conservatory. He has also run in-services on clarinet technique for music teachers in the Bakersfield and Torrance Unified School Districts. Many of his students have auditioned for and made the All Southern California and All State Honor Bands and Orchestras.

Glen received his degree in music education from the California State University, Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education, two teaching credentials and Master of Arts Degree in Clarinet Performance.
